I was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where I lived throughout high school. I was always an athlete, mostly playing basketball and competing in track and field. Ultimately this influenced me to obtain my Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology, and I joined the workforce as a physical therapy tech for a spine center. Later, I decided to join the US Air Force, where I worked as an x-ray tech, eventually relocating to the sunshine state after being stationed at Eglin AFB. I am a certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) with a Bachelor's in Exercise Physiology, registered through ARRT as a Radiologic Technologist, and received an Associate’s in Diagnostic Imaging Technology.
Even though I was a jock growing up--which heavily guided my choices in education and career-- I always found comfort in photography, especially nature and landscape. I loved finding the beauty in odd things, things that others were often too busy to see and admire. While still in high school, I took digital photography and film photography classes. I learned editing through the digital course and even won a national competition through Antonelli Art Institute, just outside Philadelphia. My teacher was encouraging and helped me realize that I had “an eye for photography.” When I had my film class, I couldn’t wait to develop my film and spend the entire period in the dark room: to me, it was so much fun learning “old school” techniques.
I am now a veteran of the US Air Force, happily married to a wonderful and supportive husband, and I live with Nocturnal Epilepsy. Together, we have adopted two dogs, Goose and Pearl, and a cat, Cece, whom I love to death.
